Hey, I’m still alive.

Sup. What’s new, you ask? Lol, a lot. Also nothing. I finally have a portfolio site up, but that’s old news already.

I have a plethora of fun, new projects on the go, the fruits of which I’m hoping I’ll be able to show off soon. I’m sitting in a coffee shop doing work for the first time in months, whilst this used to be a very regular thing. So that’s interesting, I suppose. Okay, bye?

Found: Forgotten Thoughts.

I drafted this post back in August, but decided against posting it. However, the thoughts still ring rather true:

—

The last days of August always fill me with a sense of anxiety. This is now my third summer wherein September holds no looming meaning of school approaching. My last real blog post was about check points, and New Year’s Resolutions. Well, if you’ve had any sort of meaningful conversation with me in the past few months, I’ve likely hinted at the fact that it’s been quite the surreal roller coaster of a year. I am without a doubt a different person I was in 2013.

Now.
Time and change are such weird concepts. I read a list-icle (probably on Elite Daily or the like) about signs that you’re succeeding even when you don’t think you are. Case in point: I’m apparently a success. Who knew.

—

I’ll be back soon (I hope) with my current thoughts on the changing year. Hi, 2015.

On Authenticity

18/05/14 – 5:09 PM

I just stumbled upon this TED talk by photographer Olivia Bee, and it’s pretty great. She creates in the same way that I want to be: to capture “auras” and how things feel in an authentic way. Most interestingly, she touches upon everything I’m feeling right now in regards to creativity, especially in regards to Instagram culture, and the lack of authenticity in sharing everything—I’ve always had a strange relationship with it.

Sometimes I make things that really belong on Tumblr. But at least I’m making things…right?

I THINK UR A CONTRA

10/04/14 – 5:40 PM

contra

It’s been an incredibly strange year with many ups and downs. If last year was weird, I can safely say that four months in, this one has already been more interesting. I’m a different person than I was even just a month or two ago. I have consciously (perhaps impulsively) made large changes in my life to get closer to the person I want to be. We’ll see how it all works out.

The above is the result of going three days without Internet. The below is a good overview of my listening habits this year (and, I suppose, who has been influencing said listening habits).

  1. I Think Ur a Contra – Vampire Weekend
  2. Afterlife – Arcade Fire
  3. Death Toll – Bad Channels
  4. Sweetest Kill – Broken Social Scene
  5. Gypsy, Death, & You – The Kills
  6. Same Mistakes – The Echo Friendly
  7. High and Dry – Radiohead
  8. End of the Line – Sleigh Bells
  9. Ribs – Lorde
