Blue Valentine

“From my experience, the prettier the girl is, the more nuts she is…which makes you insane.”

Two years ago today, I watched Blue Valentine, and it is probably the most devastatingly sad movie to watch on a day already pinned “Singles Awareness Day.” But, it was really good. Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling were perfect together, and it totally made me feel all the things (Girls reference). After the film ended, my friend and I sat in the theatre after the credits, taking it in.

I haven’t watched the movie since because it’s not really an easy movie to take. It’s heavy, and sort of depressing, but in a beautiful, realistic kind of way. It’s about people growing and changing, love ending, and life happening. It’s kind of like a heavier, more emotional version of (500) Days of Summer. Oh, and the end credits are fantastic.

If you haven’t seen it, you should…but probably not today, and not with your significant other.

Happy Valentine’s Day, lovers.
